Spa Day on Kauai: The Best Resort Spas, Open Now
If you’re not sure what to do on a rainy afternoon, or you just want to make the most of your time while really relaxing, book a spa day. Kauai has some beautiful resort spas, and you don’t have to stay at the resort to book a treatment at most of them. Here are the ones we’ve confirmed are open.

Anara Spa at Grand Hyatt Kauai
An open-air spa with private treatment rooms and thatched hale that each open onto a garden, plus an outdoor lap pool, steam, sauna and whirlpools. The resort said in September that all spa services had returned to regular hours after the storm. A 60-minute or longer treatment includes full spa access, and day passes are available.

The Spa at Ko’a Kea
An intimate spa on the second floor above the lobby at Ko’a Kea, our favorite boutique resort in Poipu. Couples experiences are booked by phone, and Hawaii residents get 15% off with ID. Pair it with a drink at Red Salt downstairs.

Lihue

Alexander Day Spa and Salon at the Royal Sonesta
Massages (including beachside), facials, body treatments, hair and nails at the Royal Sonesta on Kalapaki Beach. The resort lists the spa as open. Hours are Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with shorter hours on Sunday. It’s close to the airport, so it’s a nice way to spend a last afternoon before a late flight.

Bamford Wellness Spa at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay
Nature-inspired massages, body treatments and facials at the former St. Regis Princeville, which reopened Sept. 28. It has views over Hanalei Bay toward the Na Pali Coast. Book online, by phone or by email.

- Book ahead, especially for couples rooms and weekend afternoons.
- Plan it for the rainy day. Keep your spa booking flexible and use it when the weather turns.
